PITCHER PARTNERS SYDNEY 300

Fun Fact #2 | Entry numbers – cars and drivers – over the years.

Here are some numbers for you:
In 2019, 79 drivers, in 38 cars, started the inaugural #Sydney300.

In 2021, the return of the event, after the 2020 race was a victim of the COVID pandemic, saw 79 drivers contest the race, in what was a 40-car field that greeted the starter.

The numbers increased to 43 cars, 84 drivers in 2022.

Last year, 94 drivers, in 48 cars, took part in the biggest Pitcher Partners Sydney 300 to date.

Last year’s field holds several records;

  • It was the most number of cars and drivers to contest the race.
  • We saw a record 7 solo driver efforts, and a record number of entries field three drivers (5), and

Over the years, no less than 217 drivers have competed in a Sydney 300 (that number includes drivers who may not have got to actually drive in the 77-lap race itself, due to the car they were scheduled to drive retiring along the way… sorry Maisie Place Motorsport).
Incidentally, a whopping 136 drivers have only started ONE of the four 300’s at Sydney Motorsport Park, and there’ll be a post dedicated to some of those one-hit wonders in the weeks to come.
However, of those 217, only thirteen of the original field (the class of 2019) has four Sydney 300 starts to their name!

We’ll soon find out how many of those thirteen drivers will be lining up for their 5th Sydney 300 start, with the showpiece of grassroots endurance motorsport now just over EIGHT weeks away!
